It was in 2000 that Fernando Hurtado decided to create the company, which bears
his name, “The Fernando Hurtado Dance Company”. Nine years have passed
since then and it is now one of the leading companies in Spain

In 2006, Fernando Hurtado decided to commence a careful process of internationalization, with a view to researching new markets and places to perform. The fruit of this plan was an agreement in collaboration with the Spanish Agency for International Co-operation, which enabled the company to travel through Central America and various countries in Africa and the Far East

In 2008 this internationalization materialised in concrete projects, with the creation of various choreographic works in different Latin American and African countries.
In El Salvador, Fernando remounted one of the most recent productions of his own company, “The Other Side” on the National Dance Company, thus converting it into the first work to be exported by the Fernando Hurtado Dance Company.
He also choreographed “The Wizard of Oz” for the National Dance School in
El Salvador, which turned out to be one of the successes of the Salvadoran season.

Prior to this, he travelled to Zimbabwe to work and dance with the National Ballet in that country.

The Company’s most recent production was “De los Afectos” (2008), a co-production with Lanònima Imperial, which premièred at the Grec’08 Festival and which has now been seen in Seville, Gijon and at the Palma del Río Theatre Festival, where it was well received by Press and Public alike
